In 2024, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology (Zhejiang EITD) organised expert review and appraisal for provincial‑level new industrial products. SINOMOULD’s self‑developed “Paint Bucket Lid Injection Mould” successfully passed the review and was recognised as a Zhejiang Provincial New Industrial Product. As the competent authority for the industrial and information technology sectors in Zhejiang Province, the “Provincial New Industrial Product” designation requires that the product demonstrates significant achievements in technical breakthroughs, process improvement, and product quality; reaches a technological level of domestic leading or above; possesses key core technologies and independent intellectual property; and that the average sales revenue after market launch is not less than RMB 6 million – with stringent evaluation standards and high recognition value. This marks another important technical achievement in the precision injection mould field for SINOMOULD, following 11 new products that passed provincial review in 2021.

Simulation‑Driven Innovation – Cycle Time Significantly Shortened

Paint bucket lids have extremely high requirements for appearance quality and dimensional accuracy, and are prone to defects such as short shots and gas traps during molding. SINOMOULD’s technical team used Moldex3D mould flow analysis software to conduct scientific simulation and process optimisation for the entire paint bucket lid injection molding process. The team carried out a comparative study on the molding differences between valve‑gated hot runners and open hot runners, and optimised the hot runner system design based on simulation results. Among these, the valve‑gated hot runner can work with DKM injection molding machines to achieve simultaneous pre‑plasticizing, effectively shortening the cycle time and meeting the high production efficiency demands of the paint bucket industry.

On this basis, the team further designed Taguchi DOE experiments to systematically optimise injection molding process parameters. The study showed that when process parameters were set to a melt temperature of 250°C, holding time of 2 seconds, and cooling time of 18 seconds, the product showed no appearance quality defects such as short shots or gas traps, and cooling time was significantly reduced. The technical achievement has been published in the academic paper “Analysis of Paint Bucket Lid Injection Molding Process Based on Moldex3D”, reflecting SINOMOULD’s technological innovation capability and deep industry‑university‑research collaboration.

Validity and Ongoing Compliance

According to the management requirements of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the provincial new industrial product evaluation result is valid for three years from the date of publication. Recognised enterprises must report annual economic and social benefit indicators within the validity period and accept ongoing tracking evaluation.
