Air Conditioner Display PCB Cover Mould

The display PCB cover is the transparent or semi-transparent window on an air conditioner’s indoor unit that protects the circuit board while allowing LED indicators, digital readouts, and infrared signals to pass through clearly. Though small in size, this component carries demanding requirements: high light transmittance, uniform wall thickness to avoid optical distortion, and a flawless surface free of flow marks or weld lines that would spoil the appliance’s front panel appearance.

Moulding challenges are compounded by the part’s thin walls, integrated snap-fit or ultrasonic welding structures, and the need to match surrounding panel textures exactly. At SINOMOULD, we apply optical-grade machining and precision gating to produce display covers that are both functional and visually seamless. Below are the key specifications, quality priorities, and manufacturing essentials.

Air Conditioner Display PCB Cover Mould Quality Control Points

  1.  Defect-Free Light-Transmitting Zone

Any flow mark, weld line, or bubble in the display window becomes immediately visible once backlit. By optimising gate location (away from the front light-transmitting zone) and using sequential valve control to manage melt front convergence, we eliminate visible weld lines and ensure uniform illumination without dark shadows.

  1. Fit & Flushness with Front Panel

Display covers are typically snap-fitted or ultrasonically welded to the panel, where dimensional deviation causes gaps or steps. Critical mating dimensions are controlled to ±0.03mm, ensuring flushness with the panel and no visible gap.

Air Conditioner Display PCB Cover Mould Manufacturing Highlights

  1.  Optical-Grade Mirror Machining

The light-transmitting cavity is precision-milled on five-axis high-speed CNC, then multi-stage polished to a Ra ≤ 0.05μm mirror finish, ensuring a clear, haze-free product. The core is similarly high-polished to prevent back-side light scattering from affecting display clarity.

  1.  Precision Gate & Runner Design

Valve gate hot runners or pin-point gates are used, with gate locations kept away from the light-transmitting zone and hidden after assembly. Mould flow analysis controls the melt front so weld lines land in non-transparent or concealed areas.

  1.  Precision Machining & Assembly

Cavities and cores are machined by wire EDM and jig grinding, with critical tolerances ≤ ±0.01mm. After assembly, each light-transmitting surface is individually inspected to ensure no scratches or residual polishing marks.

  1.  Trial Moulding & Optical Validation

Every mould is trial-run before delivery. Beyond dimensional inspection, a backlit illumination test checks light uniformity and weld line visibility. Only after passing these checks is the mould shipped, ensuring clear display and flawless appearance after assembly.
